Beautiful "Trickett Gate House" is a 3-bed cottage located in the gorgeous village of Castleton in the heart of the Peak District. Tastefully decorated and suitable for 6 people. This listing is for the entire cottage with parking for 2 vehicles. Located on the edge of the village with River Peakshole running at the back of the cottage garden but within 5 minutes walking distance of seven pubs, restaurants and shops. The back of the cottage takes you to the Mam Tor and Edale - an amazing location.


The space
Trickett Gate House dates back to before 1455, the three cottages was once a Derbyshire Long House. The first mention of this house is in 1453 when "William Trekett" made a will in which he left his house to his wife 'Annys'.
This is a mid-terrace stone-built cottage with front and rear gardens. It boasts a huge amount of character with old oak beams, stone walls and a quirky window opening from the landing into the Kitchen which our guests love.
You will enter the property via the back door where the Keybox is located.
A small lobby inside the back door houses a storage cupboard for all your outdoor wear. Straight opposite there is a newly fitted downstairs bathroom comprising a toilet, hand basin, Electric 'Bliss' Shower and Bosch washing machine. Ideal for cleaning up after a long walk.
Fully fitted Kitchen with high ceilings, letting in lots of light and featuring the lovely stable back door. Facilities include: Beautiful Blue Gas fuelled Aga, additional gas hob, large dishwasher, large fridge freezer, microwave, Nespresso coffee maker, wine fridge and toaster. Kitchen table and chairs. Adjoining the Kitchen is a cosy little snug area with Patio doors leading onto an outside courtyard with furniture to enjoy a morning drink and relax!


The Kitchen leads onto a large Dining/Reception Room with gorgeous oak beams and a stone wall. It houses a beautiful original open cast fireplace and has a stunning black Laura Ashley dining table and chairs for 6 settings. There are two Queen Anne chairs and a large bookcase housing glassware, ornaments, books and board games for your enjoyment. A large viewing window looks out to the front garden and views to Peveril Castle.
A door leads into the delightful oak-beamed Lounge with two large settees and a Chair. It has a large Smart TV and an multi fuel log burner, perfect for relaxing and unwinding.
From the Lounge, there is a porch leading to the front of the cottage and south-facing gardens housing outdoor furniture.
Upstairs there are 3 double bedrooms:
'Blue Bedroom' which is the master bedroom. It is attractively decorated with Super King sized bed and Cream Laura Ashley furniture.
'Yellow Bedroom' with a warm cosy feel has a King-sized bed and grey Laura Ashley furniture.
'Grape Bedroom' tastefully decorated housing a Double bed and built-in wardrobes with views to the rear of the property.


At the end of the landing, there is a large 1st-floor bathroom with a powerful shower, bath, toilet, large sink and storage areas for toiletries. Amazing views from the Bathroom window to Mam Tor and surrounding countryside.
The garden at the back is very private with planted borders, outdoor seating areas, and sun loungers. Peakshole Water is a stream that runs directly at the back of the garden wall giving it a lovely tranquil feel to sit out and enjoy the fresh air. Peakshole Water is named after its source, Peak Cavern. It flows through the village of Castleton to join the River Noe in nearby Hope.
The cottage and garden offer fantastic views to Peveril Castle, Mam Tor, and surrounding area.

Castleton is a vibrant village hosting tea rooms, shops, pubs and eateries for you to enjoy at your pleasure. 1530 Restaurant is our favourite!
Walking attractions:
Numerous walking trails, Peveril Castle, Mam Tor, Edale, Four Caverns including Blue John Cavern and locally known "Devils Arse" Cavern.
Castleton has a fabulous visitor center which is a 5-minute walk from the cottage. They offer advice and walking routes around the whole area.
